NOGAMI Tohru. Original silver prints: Tokyo 1960s-1980s NOGAMI Tohru (1935-2002) was a photographer & editor for Kodansha's Shuukan Gendai (Weekly Modern) until 1964, when he became a freelance photographer. He participated to the collective The Period of the Tokyo Olympics: An Exhibition Centered on 1964 (1992) published by the JCII Museum. A large retrospective of his award-winning literary portrait work was held at the JCII Camera Museum Photo Salon in 2003. His photographs are in the collections of the Tokyo Photography Art Museum, JCII Photo Salon, Nihon Daigaku Geijustsu Gakubu, Yokohama Shimin Gallery, Nihon Shashin Hozon Center, etc. Most of the prints presented here are fine cityscapes and snaps of aspects of everyday life, mainly in the Tokyo of 1980s. Glossy b&w silver prints, for the main part on large paper stock (30.8 x 25.3 cm), some are smaller (see sizes below). Some of the following prints have Nogami's wet stamp on the reverse ('J.P.S.' meaning he was a member of the Nihon Shashinka Kyokai, Japan Professional Photographers Society). Of those, some are dated by hand, some not, noted below as 'stamp 19--'( or simply 'XX' if the year is not filled out). Sometimes, there is also a title in pencil. Excellent-VG condition unless stated otherwise. EUR 60- a piece unless marked otherwise.

NOMURA Katsuo.
Beautiful large original silver prints from the 1940s-50s. Good condition (edges: usual continued photo-chemical reaction, occasional chipping; specific details below). NOMURA Katsuo (name written at the back of one print) is most likely the founder of Nomura Kougaku Kenkyusho (Nomura Optics) that designed cameras and flashes around WW2, who must have been also an amateur photographer. The pictures are really nicely composed & printed, and in relatively very good condition given their (large) size. Undoubtedly wonderful companions once decently framed.

POSTERS
Although being multiples, because they are things meant to be used and quickly thrown away (advertising, promotional ephemera) or to be put on a private wall (pinned, taped, more rarely framed), original posters are by definition infinitely more scarce than any book, even more so in good and better conditions, sometimes possibly counting only a handful of copies remaining, if any at all! Posters are not only specifically designed picture display devices reproduced mechanically or manually, but thus also precious items and artistic testimonies of their time. Of course, since the late 1990s-early 2000s, with the internet on one hand and various business interests of galleries adequately surfing on the fame of a few artists on the other, the selling of unused stock (formerly stored indefinitely or destroyed) was eased, and the number of 'art' or 'limited' print runs grew considerably. Unless originally folded, all non-framed posters below (except Tatsuki's XXL '7ninten' poster) are currently stored flat and will be posted rolled. Sizes are in cm (h x w) with an approximation in ISO paper sizes when relevant.
