TASHIRO Sanzen (1922-). Original drawings for Arashi no Naka no 17-nen (17 Years Inside the Storm). Tokyo: Kaisei-sha, 1981. The wonderful original drawings for KATSUO Kinya's period novel Arashi no Naka no 17-nen (from Tokugawa's Bakufu into the Meiji era), in TASHIRO's delicate, light and sometimes dream-like stroke. A beautiful collection. 3 color drawings (2 large, 1 vignette), 1 large kirie (cut papers), 2 manuscript titles, 26 black ink drawings (4 large, 1 oblong, 18 regular, 3 small) and 1 map. Ink (& watercolor) on thin paper, taped on thicker paper, with annotated protective tracing papers. Support paper sizes: large (38x27 cm), oblong (38x 19), regular (27x19), vignettes (ca. 19x12). The glue of the tape has dried and transfered onto the papers (hence the yellow bands, which actually add an interesting framing) but never affects the drawings. Excellent condition.
