Review — A important issue of the photo magazine Shashin Bunka (Photo Culture, 1941-43). The main feature is a fine selection of pictures (1936-1942, 16 p. & 15 pics, clear full-page, finely printed), by DOMON Ken (then 33, who would win the first & only Ars Shashin Bunka Prize the following year). It also includes several photo-reportages - on one day in a Rikugun Yonengakko (Officer Candidate School for boys of 13-15 years of age, 4 p., 5 pics), on Japanese salt fields by MIDORIKAWA Yoichi ('Salt Fields: Salt is an important resource in war time', 6 p. & ca. 15 pics, interesting layout!), on zoo animals (6 p., 28 pics incl. 1 full-page) - and a Recent Works section (4 p., 6 pics, incl. 1 by HAYASHI Tadahiko), the monthly contests and other various reports & articles (incl. by NAGATA Isshu).
